Job Description
Cogs is partnering with an organisation who are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Superintendent to lead its Water and Wastewater Construction projects.
In this role, the General Superintendent will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all field operations, ensuring the successful execution of large-scale wastewater treatment plant construction projects. The incumbent will be responsible for site safety, schedule adherence, self-perform work quality, subcontractor coordination, logistics, labor cost management, and overall project productivity. Their expertise will be crucial in achieving timely project completion while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: The General Superintendent will provide strong leadership in all aspects of wastewater treatment plant construction projects, from planning to completion. They will direct and manage all Superintendents on the project, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective communication among team members.
Site Safety: The General Superintendent will enforce and uphold stringent safety protocols and industry regulations on-site. They will foster a culture of safety awareness and compliance, ensuring the well-being of all project personnel.
Quality Assurance: The incumbent will oversee the implementation of high-quality construction practices, ensuring that all work meets or exceeds industry standards and client expectations. They will conduct regular quality inspections and implement corrective measures when necessary.
Schedule Management: The General Superintendent will develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones. They will proactively identify potential delays and develop mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
Subcontractor Coordination: The General Superintendent will effectively coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring their work aligns with project requirements and timelines. They will resolve any conflicts or issues promptly to maintain project progress.
Logistics and Resource Management: The incumbent will manage project logistics, including material deliveries, equipment utilization, and workforce allocation. They will optimize resource utilization to enhance project efficiency and productivity.
Training and Mentorship: The General Superintendent will take a leadership role in training and mentoring Superintendents and other team members. They will share their expertise and provide guidance to foster professional development within the team.
Problem-Solving: The General Superintendent will proactively identify challenges and issues that may arise during the construction process. They will implement effective problem-solving strategies to overcome obstacles and maintain project momentum.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience as a Superintendent, Lead Superintendent, or General Superintendent in Water and Wastewater Construction.
- They will have a proven track record of successfully overseeing complex projects with a value exceeding $100 million, including new constructions, renovations, expansions, and underground utilities.
- The General Superintendent will possess a strong background in concrete and asphalt work related to wastewater treatment plant construction projects.
- They will demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The incumbent will have in-depth knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and construction best practices.
- They will exhibit the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will be essential.
